Yesterday, my seven year-old daughter put the below story on my desk. It was entitled, “Leaders.” I thought it was so good that I wanted to share it.

“Every day when my dad drops me off at school he asks me, ‘What are the three things that all leaders do?’  I say, ‘Leaders help others, set a good example and think positive.’

When my dad gets home from work he asks me, ‘Were you a leader today?’ and I say, ‘Yes, I did all three things. Like today, I helped a kid with a math problem.’ … and that is what leaders do. The end.”

Lessons Learned

  • Leaders help others. Add value by advancing and serving other people.
  • Leaders set a good example. People do what people see.
  • Leaders think positive. Attitude is the difference maker.
