Creating Culture through Leadership

Culture is the total beliefs and behaviors that are characteristic of a company. Culture is both planned and organic. Every time a leader makes a decision and takes action, they create culture; e.g., recognition, reward, termination, etc. Why? Because they convey what is important to and valued by the company or them (or both). Thus, whenever possible, leaders must explain their decisions and actions, so everyone understands the why behind them. Leaders must live and reinforce the culture and values that embody the organization or team they want to create.
