Effective leaders help people realize their full potential through coaching. Coaching is not about helping people become more like the leader. It is about helping people become the best version of themselves. Coaching helps accelerate the process. Coaching is not about giving people specific advice to achieve their vision of success. It is about asking questions and providing information to help them uncover answers and remove barriers to empower their own personal change. Below are ten coaching traits possessed by effective leaders.

  • Challenging – Leaders demand achievement and inspire excellence.
  • Curiosity – Leaders are inquisitive and constantly learning.
  • Discipline – Leaders require accountability and are willing to pay the price (sacrifice).
  • Encouragement – Leaders are optimistic by nature and supportive of people.
  • Expressive – Leaders demonstrate strong communication and persuasion skills.
  • Futuristic – Leaders help people get clear about their goals and take action toward their vision of success.
  • Intuition – Leaders share proven concepts and ideas with people accelerate progress.
  • Judgment – Leaders are decisive and set the right priorities.
  • Purpose – Leaders are idealistic and incorporate meaning into their work.
  • Relating – Leaders are able to make strong  connections with people and demonstrate empathy.
